... and since two days, there are the orphanage children in the greenhouse, nothing is destroyed or modified. even more: there is somebody who is watering the plants every day and just now, we met one guy from over there, dressed in army clothes and tidying up the ground ...

our very succesful first sunday with juggling, exhibition opening and music left over a great feeling.
So many friends and even strangers were here to come and see, to feel good. in the sunday sun, everybody was a bit like a child in the park, sometimes disguised as clowns and circus people. spraying stencils on t-shirts, lying in the sun and in the end even a big big football match was to see. also some children from the orphanage participated in juggling and ball making.
the exhibition opening spread a warm satisfied feeling all over the gallery, supported by the great music of bertane and alexis.

we know now, how good the lower part of the greenhouse would be for concerts. we just need some old chairs and benches!
(by the way: in the end of may there will be a a concert/poetry happening of an irish friend of mine and his friends.)

we want to thank all the people again who came over, especially joanna who organised the jugglers, damaris for the great opening-cake, dominic and martin for the delicious lunch pasta surprise and all the enthusiasm from all the people! We hope you come and enjoy the place again, plant your plants and ideas in the place!

• important and good news!

yesterday, we met by chance the sister of martin, one of the orphanage children. she likes that idea and especially the place of the greenhouse very much - already wanted to do something by her own with that space. in addition to that, she's working in a garden shop that would provide many many second choice flowers and plants to plant in the greenhouse! we are very happy to hear that, thank you! and we are looking forward to meet her again, maybe during the juggling afternoon today ? (she's a passionate juggler, too...)

• The greenhouse is finally COVERED !!!

hej, the lower part of our greenhouse is finally covered! thanks alexis, alex, martin, brooke and bertane weren't shy but highly enthusiastic to handcraft with us and the plastic plane - from morning to evening, nicely interrupted by delicious lunch made by brooke -we can finally see a room, a space for all the ideas. It was sort of a hard work, we admit, but now we are suntanned and happy :-) . come and see! when we finish the cake for the morning cafe, we are goin out to install the second exhibition now. It's beautiful weather outside...

• FILLING THE PLACE with the NEW SOIL !!!

Finally the new soil arrived yesterday. But the weather was rainy and cold.
Today it's sunny and warm, so we built up a construction for the new soil and we filled them.
Tommorrow we install the wood-sticks and hope to cover the greenhouse during this week.

At the weekend friends were here to help creating the second exhibition, the original idea was to collect and photocopy iconic visual informations, painting, magazines, architecture from the official canon of art history, then make montages and install them to the gallery. We had to install the papers first to wood-panels because the wall in the greenhouse is wet, so glue or tape cannot be used..
But the final work is better then we accepted before...
And because Martin (a boy from the orphanage) arrived we decided to make a portrait of him. This will be the first painting to install in the greenhouse... Lets see what they do with it...

And a very important experience:
we didnt fill the place with works after the renovation, so children started to fill the walls themselves with drawings, grafitties, but not just with nice ones, rather with tags. I dont like tags, because its more a violent self-representation then a real way of thinking and visuality.

So from now on we gonna take care more about the exhibitions and their installation. We will give the children more and more visual and symbolic information.
We think, the situation will also change when the greenhouse is covered and we can use that part of the place, too.

• OpenDay_documentation

For many reasons the documentation of the OpenStudio's OpenDay presentation or how called, comes a little bit late...

...sorry, but finally here it is..

Events:

there was four presentation, the three artist from OpenStudios and a friend Peter Fitzpatrick, australian based artist who was resident in MEET Factory. Also Peter helped to create the first "exhibition". We installed his photographs and my stencil works. Because we couldnt cover the greenhouse yet, had to count with the weather (rain, wind). The exhibition was untouched just for 1 day, but thats what we knew before...

There was quite a lot people on the presentation, and







thanks for Tomas (student of Intermedia Faculty in Prague, and great chef...) we had nice food and get the experience how to make spring scramble, eggfoam, handmade little clouds...

The OpenGalerie opening event included a baptizing ceremony.

We baptized the gallery place, art, and children. Tamas used three different hungarian texts for it. Thanks for the choir for the nice french songs.

::today, I was meeting some of the kids in the park. Everybody was nice, like always. No words about the gallery. I thought of stepping into the conversation in another way. Bought a red and a yellow rope, bent it all over the greenhouse and connected the trees between the orphanage and the gallery. Patched their collage of Peter's photograph on it.Let's see if we get an answer...::

:: today morning i found the gallery in a surprising new state. Peter's photography presentation and Tamas' stencil pictures werde modified into some 'new compositions'. I won't call it destruction, cause that's what we expected in a way and there is also something new created. some imprints of the childrens' handwriting....:::

Balthazar, a friend we got to know recently while his visit to Prague would like to exhibit some of his works in progress he is doing together with his friend Maartje

spread the word also in my classes. matt, a funny guy from Scotland is offering some photo project for the gallery and the social space around...

:: "Already i've had lots of ideas today of things to do around Prague. 1 idea i had was to cut out huge letters in cardboard spelling 'ANGER' OR 'DESTROY' and leaving them next to the orphanage or somewhere in the city and leave it for a week or so and come back and take pictures of what people and kids do to it. If they have destroyed it or stolen it or vandalised it. it would be a good form of social art, something like what we were talking about in the emergent democracy talk earlier."

• more workshops

Talked to my teacher at the theatre paedagogy faculty of Damu today. Jan Nepomuk Piskac, he's doing some rhetorics and textwork stuff - a possibly new idea to offer the children. He works usually with schoolclasses and teaches at Damu "acting with the inner partner". Would be at first a one-day thing with text work to see what interest is there. Finshed with a performance by Jan in the evening. To be continued if the children want to...

The juggling workshop is ready to be held - thanks Joanna!! Hoping for good weather soon... (forecast is promising spring again...)

• open studio evening :: documentary and workshop

::At the open studio evening last thursday here in the oranzerie, Tamas baptised the gallery in hungarian with a text for "art", "children" and "architecture". Berthe-Anne and Lucile, two friends from France supported him by giving french songs. Video will be posted soon...We 'opened' the gallery with some stencil-grafitti of Tamas and photographs of Peter Fitzpatrick, an artist in residency at the Meatfactory from Australia. Pictures are going to be posted soon...


::Later, we had the pleasure to be offered a photoshop workshop for the orphanage children by Andrej. He's a friend of a friend of Tamas and my teacher Denisa Kera. Game Programmer, Artist and a very nice person - he got in touch with two boys from there, talked very long.
Actually, we've been very glad, that the kids came over that evening. In the end, one of them gave shake hands and a warm thank you in everybody's name to Tamas. Makes us happy.

::What makes us also happy, is the offer of Dominic, a journalist from England to let us be part in his documentary about some Skolska projects. Sunday is a shooting scheduled.

.... at the moment we still have every morning snow on the park green and the wheather during the day changes constantly every half an hour from sun to rain to snowstorm. And we hope the new soil is gonna be shipped soon...

• Snow and finally shipping

Today morning the city finally shipped the soil, it took 15 minutes for them with the big machines...
now hardly wait for the new soil, today is Wednesday, the OpenDay is tomorrow, so not sure can do it, but the project's dont have to be finished for now, just we wanted to present it more for tomorrow
Yesterday the weather change a lot, snow and sun, and snow and sun..., for morning everywhere is snow, not too much but snow and cold, which makes the work little bit more difficult
